My Count does not introduce himself as a monster. He welcomes a guest. He offers hospitality, speaks with courtesy, and lets a young solicitor believe he understands the business before him. Now place yourself in Harker’s room. You hear the wolves beyond the walls. You have seen something you cannot explain. What would you write down—and whom would you tell? That is where my story takes hold. Each diary and letter carries a little knowledge, and a great deal of fear. Keep your eye on Mina. She understands the value of bringing those fragments together.
